Their first whiskey, and, as far as they can tell, the first whiskey ever to be produced in Duluth (legally, hehe)! They age a bourbon mash in used port barrels with soft maple staves, then we finish it in bourbon casks that have been used for aging maple syrup.

Sugarbush Whiskey from Vikre Distillery in Duluth, Minnesota was introduced in November 2015. Their first of many experimental releases, this whiskey is distilled from a mash bill of 60% corn, 25% barley, and 15% rye before being twice-aged. First, in used port barrels with maplewood staves for less than 24 months, before finishing in bourbon barrels that aged maple syrup. It’s bottled at 44% ABV.

Nose: Maple Syrup.

Palate: Light but complex in flavor with notes of maple, roasted cherry, leather, and yellow cake.

Finish: Sweet and rich.
