An old bottle of Tormore 10 year old. A relatively young distillery in Scotch terms, it was only founded in 1958 and production began in 1960, at a time when the Scotch whisky industry was booming. We estimate this was bottled in the 1980s.

Nose: A delightfully complex spicy and perfumed nose.

Palate: There is a much greater presence of peat in the taste than the nose suggests. The smokiness quickly hits the palate and then tapers off.

Finish: Long and dry with gentle warm spice.

Distillery Information

Tormore distillery is a Speyside single malt Scotch whisky distillery located approximately 1 km south of the River Spey. Its water source is the Achvochkie Burn. The Tormore is one of the younger Scottish whiskies, the distillery construction began in 1958 and was completed in 1960. It was the first new distillery to be built in the country in the 20th century.
