Coming from the family reserve, this cognac was distilled more than 40 years ago in a small traditionnal copper charentais pot still. Its on the family vineyard on the slopes of Cors that the Ugni blanc grapes were picked up, vinified and distilled. The 1971 vintage, which gave very few amount of grapes, made it an exceptionnal and very rare vintage ; it would have been diffficult to guess before distillation that it werre going to reveal an amazing result.

Nose: Incredibly precise and complex, it reveals mango and saffron notes, nectarine, sage, grapefruit and nutmeg, then a flowery bouquet (rose, violet) and finally rare spices.

Palate: Velvety, it balances between summer (apricot, melon) and exotic (papaye, guava) fruits, topped with spices as well.

Finish: Very longlasting and amazingly fresh, fruity and spicy.

Distillery Information

The origin of Rmi Landier dates back to the late 19th century, when Julien Girard (Remi Landiers grandfather) stood at Cors, a hamlet in the Fins Bois region, and planted in 1890 his first vines. The site was then already renowned for the quality of its eaux-de-vie. Realizing the uniqueness of their terroir and the eaux-de-vie it produces, Remi Landier and his sons created in 1973 their eponymous brand of cognac. As distillers for some of Cognacs largest trading houses, they only produce a small quantity under their own label. For this reason, Remi Landier has long been in the heart of cognac experts. Today, Jean-Yves Landier and his daughter Geraldine, fourth and fifth generation of producers, offer a full range of cognacs: VS to XO as well as rare and limited editions. Their Pineaux des Charentes also benefits from an excellent reputation.
