This 1948 Grande Champagne Cognac was awarded a Gold Outstanding Award at the International Wine & Spirit Competition 2018. It was crafted using the Ugni Blanc grape variety and matured for over half a century in Limousin oak casks until it was bottled at 44.4% ABV. This will blow you away.

Nose: Fern leaves, violets, allspice and vanilla.
Palate: Pineapple syrup, plum, baked apple, shortbread and sweet spices.
Finish: Lingering.
Distillery Information
The Hermitage Distillery was organized in 1862 by Gaines, Berry & Co. The distillery was actually built in 1868, on the Kentucky River south of Frankfort. One assumes that the name Hermitage was a reference to President Andrew Jacksons home of that name in Nashville, Tennessee.The company was reorganized and incorporated in 1868 as W. A. Gaines & Co.
