From Antiguan premium rum producers English Harbour comes an experimental release, the Madeira Cask Finish. This small-batch rum is aged initially in ex-bourbon barrels for five years, before it is transferred into barrels that previously held Malmsey Madeira and Bual Madeira for 3-6 months to be finished. It was bottled at 46% ABV, without chill-filtration or artificial flavours.

English Harbour Madeira Cask Finish Rum Tasting Notes

Nose: Beautiful pumpkin spices and bright cinnamon fizz.

Palate: Fresh citrus, hazelnuts and pangs of marzipan. Floral notes open up as it progresses, with a suggestion of sweet white chocolate.

Finish: Smooth and long finish.

Distillery Information

Antigua Distillery Limited was formed in 1932 when a number of rum shop owners on the island joined forces. In those early days the company sold two kinds of rum – un-aged and aged rums under the brand name Caballero. Later, in the 1950s, Cavalier Rum was introduced and remains a successful brand on the island today. The English Harbour brand was introduced in the 1990s.
