A splendid independent single cask bottling here from Duncan Taylor, released as part of The Octave series. This expression hails from the Speyside region, and though the distillery details are not disclosed, the label tells us that it comes from An Iconic Speyside Distillery, which is enough to get us excited! Distilled in 2011, this single malt spent a decade maturing, including a final nine months in a smaller octave cask, before finally being bottled up in 2021, with a total outturn of 86 bottles.

Nose: Sweet dried fruits raisins, prunes, and dates with hints of baked apple and creamy coffee, balanced by zesty orange and tangy oak.

Palate: Silky honey and more candied fruit, cakey spices with citrus peel, malted milk biscuits, and gently oily oak char.

Finish: Pastry with sultanas, wafts of clove, and a hint of cinnamon, with caramelised nuts, creamy marzipan, and dried apples.
