Distillery: Eigashima

The White Oak distillery is perhaps the least known of Japan whisky producers. The distillery was founded by in 1888 to produce sake, and because of this, has a legitimate claim of being the countrys oldest whisky producer. In 1919, Eigashima Shuzo obtained a license to make whisky four years before Yamazaki was built. This Akashi 15 year old was matured for 12.5 years in Spanish Oak Sherry casks and 2.5 years in Japanese Konara Oak casks.

Nose: Nose is complex yet not overwhelming.

Palate: Lovely, mild on the tongue with a slight burn at the end.

Finish: Lingering finish.
