Reviews:
- Jeb Dunnuck: Tasted just prior to bottling, the 2009 Paul Lato Syrah Cinematique Larner Vineyard, aged for 19 months in 33% new French oak, is slightly less exotic than the Bien Nacido and exhibits gorgeous black and red fruits, grilled beef, lead pencil, and serious crushed rock and liquid mineral like aromas and flavors. Full-bodied and impeccably balanced, with an elegant profile, beautifully concentrated mid-palate, and firm, polished tannin on the finish, this captivating Syrah should drink well for 10-12 years. The ’09s from Paul are both unbelievably good and count yourself lucky if you were able to latch on to a few bottles.
- James Suckling: Spicy, with black pepper and minerals. Licorice and hints of sandalwood. Full-bodied, with an amazing finish. Superb finish. Fabulous. What a finish!
Producer Information
Passion, quality, and authenticity. These are the guiding principles of our small, artisanal winery dedicated to producing Burgundy and Rhone varietals. Paul Lato is a former sommelier who studied wine extensively and traveled the world before starting his winemaking operation on the Central Coast in 2002. Though their style is inspired by the balance and harmony, they also seek to capture the intensity of flavor that is a hallmark of sun-kissed California vineyards. Through small-lot boutique production, minimal intervention in the winery, and purity of intention, the team works to achieve elegance in the bottle that showcases the unique qualities of these amazing sites. The ultimate goal is to create wines that are seamless and textural with the structure and balance to complement fine cuisine.
