Reviews:
- Wine Advocate: The 1985 Rivesaltes, which was bottled in 2013 by Philippe Gayral, has a lucid amber color. It has an attractive nose of caramel, over-ripe Satsuma, honeycomb and touches of fig. The palate is well balanced with an oxidative, walnut and smoke opening. There is a lightness of touch here – not a heavy Rivesaltes, quite elegant in fact. Slightly chilled. This would make a perfect aperitif.
Producer Information
The Le Vieux Chne estate produces a natural sweet wine made from a blend of white grape varieties, vinified together. The old vines of macabeu, gray and white grenache and Malvoisie du Roussillon (also called tourbat) flourish in the Vingrau valley on mineral soil, in an environment composed of guarrigue, pines and oaks.
The berries are harvested manually, before being taken to the cellar for vinification.
It is a cuve with a beautiful amber color. It offers a light and fresh nose, where nuances of citrus fruits, grilled almonds and dried fruits mingle. The palate is both delicate and greedy, while the finish is long and impressive.
