Producer Information
Camus Pre & Fils is a Burgundian wine producer located in the village of Gevrey-Chambertin. The Camus family has owned the estate since the 1930s, although the domaine itself dates to 1732. The estate primarily produces Pinot Noir from an impressive lineup of Gevrey-Chambertin grand cru sites, including the famous Chambertin vineyard. The estate consists of 18 hectares (44 acres) of vineyard land, ranging from the generic Bourgogne appellation to grand cru-level vineyards (of which the estate has 12 hectares/30 acres). Camus has plots in Chambertin, Charmes-Chambertin, Latricires-Chambertin, Mazoyres-Chambertin and a tiny plot in Mazis-Chambertin. Around 30 percent of the domaine’s fruit is sold to other producers. Vinification at Camus Pre & Fils is traditional. Grapes are handpicked and destemmed, and are then fermented in tank. The wines go through malolactic fermentation before barrel maturation in French oak barrels for 14-18 months.
