• Wine Advocate: The 2021 Juffer-Sonnenuhr Sptlese is clear, intense and bright on the layered and lovely minty, finely coolish and very delicate and flinty nose. Concentrated and lush on the palate, this is a saline and tensioned, mouthwatering Sptlese of great elegance, finesse and freshness. 7.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork.

• James Suckling: A very bright and energetic Mosel Spatlese with a very wide spectrum of fruit aromas from nectarine to passion fruit via blackberry with a touch of mint. Joyful freshness and vitality, this leaps and bounds over the palate. Super-fresh and long finish with a ton of wet stone minerality. Excellent aging potential. Drink or hold.

Fritz Haag is a wine producer located in Brauneberg in on the Mosel river. It produces a complete range of wines made from Riesling, from dry expressions to luscious botrytised wines. The well-known Erste Lage vineyards Brauneberger Juffer and Brauneberger Juffer Sonnenuhr are synonymous with Fritz Haag, which is also known by the name Dusemonder Hof. In total, vineyard holdings cover 19 hectares (46 acres), and the vines are planted on Devonian slate soils on slopes of up to 80 degrees. This terroir is well-suited to Riesling, providing a cool, well-drained environment that allows for full ripening without sacrificing acidity. As a result, Fritz Haag wines are intense and balanced, and many of the top examples can be aged for decades. Today, Fritz Haag is headed by Oliver Haag who took over in 2005 after training at well-known estates such as Weingut Dnnhoff in the Nahe and Weingut Karthuserhof in the Ruwer. Fritz Haag is a member of the VDP and produces a range of Prdikatswein with various sweetness levels..
