They age their white rum like a bourbon for at least two years in virgin American oak barrels, introducing hints of toffee and caramel that give way to flavors of vanilla and tobacco. The result is a spirit that lends itself to classic whiskey cocktails with a rum twist, but we prefer it served neat. And sipped slowly. Gluten Free.

Three Sheets Rum is made by fermenting organic evaporated cane sugar, which is best known as raw unrefined sugar. It is fermented by a proprietary yeast strain and distilled through a custom built hybrid pot/column still. By using raw sugar, Ballast Point has obtained a rum of great distinction with subtle sweet flavors. And no, they do not add any flavoring to the rum! The aged rum spends its life in a virgin, heavily charred American oak barrel, much like the fine Bourbons of Kentucky.

Cutwater Spirits Three Sheets Barrel Aged Rum Tasting Notes

Nose: On the nose, this rum yields a welcoming nose of honeyed raisins, vanilla, Muscovado sugar, and green tobacco.

Palate: A fairly sweet and intense palate of brown sugar, ripe tropical fruits, crme brulee, and dry toasty oak notes.

Finish: A rich and complex finish of sweet tropical spice, caramel, and more oak.

Distillery Information

In 2016, band of liquid pioneers began building one of the West Coasts largest new distilleries. What started as an off shoot of Ballast Point Brewing back in 2007, is now a completely separate company, facility, and product line.
