One of the initial releases from That Boutique-y Rum Company – this one a 13 year old Jamaican rum from the Monymusk distillery. The label features dogs dressed up like people on the London Underground. Is this a hint as to where the rum was matured? Perhaps. However, that doesn’t explain why the dogs are dressed like people. Then again, do you really need an explanation to put dogs dressed like people on a bottle of rum? No. No, you do not. Carry on. Batch 1 is a release of 473 bottles.

That Boutique-y Rum Company Monymusk 13 Year Old Batch #1 Traditional Column Rum | 500ML Tasting Notes

Nose: Sweetcorn, sweet chilli, orange oil, roasted pineapple, cooked apple, tobacco leaf, black peppercorn, and an unusual saltiness.

Palate: Darker and fruitier on the palate: raisins, plums and oodles of cooked pineapple, along rich zesty orange and a sweet spice. The pepper perseveres, but sweeter nutmeg comes through, too.

Finish: Lively and medium length with peppery pineapple.

Distillery Information

Monymusk Distillery is one of the oldest distilleries in Jamaica, whose rums are produced from a particular blend of molasses and sugar cane juice with the addition of so-called dunders, or sun-dried residues from the distillation process. These local traditions together with the double distillation in small Pot Stills, give these rums a unique aroma and fullness.
